Surrealism
Surrealism was started my a famous artist named salvador Dali, many thought he was mad, but he would simply ignore there remarks and continue to believe that fact that he was the most beautiful man in the world. Due to his extraordinary imagination he was capable of making amazing paintings, they did not make any sense to anybody but him, and sometimes they looked so out of place you would think that maybe even he did not understand them himself. Salvador Dali lived a life of his own rules, and those were the only ones that he would follow, he would go for what he believed in and never took "no" for and answer not many people are capable of doing so, but that is how he got to where he is today. For our next assignment we where told to make a Surreal painting, and the only requirement we had was that a single hand would be added into it, other then that it was our turn to be creative and work out of the box, and thats what we attempted to do...
When i first began my work, i did not have a story line to it, i was just brainstorming and putting anything in that i thought would look good. But then towards then end, i started add some of my feelings to my work. For example, this year was very different then last, in many ways, not only did i find that i have changed, but also a lot of my friends. This painting has many bright colors- the sky is not blue but orange with yellow in it, it contrast with the drawing of the hand which is not even painted at all. The cloud and ocean is bright blue and you can see motion it it, when the hill is green but appears flat and glued to the page, these are all signs of contrast and differences. In my work i show that many things changing, like the blue cloud turning into an ocean, both beautiful but different. There hand being cut, and stabbed by arrows i did this to show that even though sometimes even though change may be something that we need, and it may just be for the better, it can hurt too... letting go is never easy and it is something that i have discovered form past experiences that i am not good at. I added an egg as the sun to show that after the change has occurred it is almost impossible for things to become just like they were before, the egg resembles the sun but it is not the same. Umbrellas were added to show that though all this you will have a shelter a safe haven no matter what has happened. There is a shark swimming in the ocean, this represents how during periods like this in your life you have to face your fears to get past them, the birds are flying away, this shows that people leave and how you have to move on with your life even though it may be really hard. This painting is not only representing what i feel today but also what i am expecting and preparing for in the future.

Monocromatic Paintings
The first thing we did on our monocromatic painting was the composition, i made my composition by putting some of the objects in frount of each other and over lapping each other, which in a result gave them all different tints and shades. I copied the picture on to my painting and over lapped the obejects to give it the same look as the actual picture, then when i started painting it i added all the dfferent tints and shades as shown in the photograph or my layout.
The skill i learned while painting this piece of work was how, and where to put the tints and shades into my work, and make it look more like the original piece.
The main conection that i can make with my painting and real life is that my painting kind of reminds me of simple times, like when you went out and picked your own fruits and brought it home to feed your family instead of buying it at the super market, and other stuff like that. If i could do this painting again, i would fix the painting, i don't think that i have enough tints and shades in my drawing, and i think it looks kind of flat to the page and does not stand out as much as i wanted it too. I felt kind of relaxed at first when i was working on this assinment, but the towards the end i started not to be too happy with my work (because it was not turning out the way that i wanted it too) so i got a little frustrated. I noticed and observed that in my painting i concentrate to much on keeping the paint inside the lines and keeping it neat, rather then on making my drawing stand out and look more realific. I am not that satisfied with my work, i think if i had paid more attention to the tints and shades in my painting then i could have done alot better.

Conflict Painting
This piece of work was basicaly an experiment for me, i tried something new, & i did not even have a draft, i just thought on my feet. At first i really was not pleased with the outcome of my work, but now when i look back i think that it looks okay, honestly not one of my favorites but i like it. With this piece of work, what i basicaly did, was i got warm colors and mixed them, then blended them together, to make a background, then i took some colors like black and red, to show some conflict in the painting. While i was working on on this project, the number one skill that i have learned would probaly be the fact that i took a risk, i had no idea what i was going to do, and how my painting would turn out, all i knew was that i needed conflict. And i think that is an important skill that i am going to need for art class & and soemthing i can take away from this lesson to help me with not only art in the furture but many other things as well.
A conection i can make with this painting is that conflict is every where in the world, and a part of everyones life, when i made this painting i was not thinking of anything in particualar but now when i look at it, i see the conflict where some poeple are living in poverty and do not have enough, and how they are not getting enough help. If i could start over with this painting, what i would change is to think it over a little more, and take my time doing the painting in general cause towards then end i started to rush seeing that everyone was finished with thier work.
While i was working on this assinment i felt pretty frustrated at times, because i was not very happy with my work, and it did not look the way i wanted it too.
In conclusion not over the top happy with my work but i am pretty satisfied, i mean it could have been worse.

Van Gogh sketch
Physical response:
When i first started saw the Van Gogh sketch that i had to draw i honestly did not know where and how to start. Then with some help from Mrs.Bammi, i got started. I did not look at the sketch as much as i should have, i kind of just went with the flow of my drawing, with just a few peeks to see the basic structure of the painting. When i was doing this piece of art work i was really nervous that i would
mess up, but i think it was a lot of fun sketching this piece of art.
BY doing this sketch i did learn some skills, like for example how to and when to us different pens. I learned to see the depth in the drawing like when i should us a thick pen and when to us a thin one.
A connection that i made is that in science class we are told to obsurve different substances using a microscope, just like we are told to do in this art class. We were told to observe our drawing and pay close attention to it.
If i could do this assignment again i would have spent more time on the background of the tree, i spent all my time making the tree itself and then ran out of time, and behind the tree there are only lines now.
From this lesson i learned how to do black and white sketch with simple lines and curves and how good the outcome can be.
I felt relaxed while i worked on this assignment, while i was sketching my drawing, it was a good time for me to think. Thats one of my favorite parts of drawing and painting-being able to think while we work.
I am very satisfied by my final outcome, but but i think if i did not rush it in the end with my background i could have done a lot better. But in general i am happy with my final piece.

What we have been doing in Art so far.
Art so far has been very exciting, we have learned about the depth, and value. How and where we should shade a drawing depending on where we want the light to be coming from. We have practiced doing this by using different kinds of pencils and markers, that come in many sizes- some of which are thick and some which are thin. Also by drawing strait lines, cruvy lines, circles depending on the kind of art work that we are doing. We have also learned about different textures and shadings in our drawing, and how they need to look to perfect our work. This class has been fun so far, and i am pretty sure that it will continue to be too.
